what is the dragon House?

The Dragon House of the Tenth Muse is an echo of the “Moisopolon Domos,” or “House of the Muses,” of Ancient Greece. It is a modern day mystery school and artist collective that serves to walk with women on the path of remembrance. It is a place to sharpen your blade in the realms of mind, body, and spirit. Within this space, you will find an ever-growing library of resources that evolve as we do.

On this path of remembrance, we will walk with four main archetypal energies/figures guiding our way…

the lover: Aphrodite

Aphrodite was the Greek goddess of love, fertility, desire and much more. She is also known to the Romans as the goddess Venus. Aphrodite teaches us to embrace our sensuality: embodying the Lover means taking the whole world into our arms. When we do this, all of life becomes a love affair between our own hearts and the totality of creation.

the poet: Sappho

Sappho was one of the greatest poets to ever live, hailing from Ancient Greece. She was affectionately named, “The Tenth Muse,” and held her own “Moisopolon Domos,” on her island of Lesbos. People from all over would send their daughters to Sappho to deepen their practices within the arts. Her “House of the Muses,’ was specifically dedicated to the goddess Aphrodite. Sappho and the goddess Aphrodite were the initial inspiration for the Dragon House of the Tenth Muse.

The witch: Hecate

Hecate also hails from the world of Ancient Greece and is the goddess of the crossroads, witchcraft, the moon, and magic. She is closely associated with dogs, torches and keys, among other things. She is very often called, “The Mother of Witches,’ while her name in Greek translating to, “She Who Works Her Will.” Hecate teaches us how to walk between worlds and how to make our desires and intentions tangible.

The warrior: The morrigan

The Morrigan hails from Celtic mythology as the goddess of war, fate and battle. She is said to be part of the Tuatha De Danaan, the supernatural race of deities of Pre-Christian Gaelic Ireland. In our subset group “The Wildguard,” we look to The Morrigan as a torch-bearer in the realm of self-sovereignty. The Morrigan teaches us how to take up our swords and reclaim radical responsibility for our one wild and precious life.
